I have created a file called Security_Log and a FORM called Security_Log. I
want my security officers to beable to enter data records into the
Security_log file using the Security_Log Form. Once an officer enters a data
record I want him and the other officers to beable to see all the records
entered by all the officers. However I DO NOT want any of the officers to
beable to change, edit or delete any recors not even their own. I as
administrator and owner of the file and form will be the only one able to
change, modify or delete any and all records. Is this possible and if so how
is it done. Please I need help.

I design my user interfaces such thaqt I have a continuous view form
that shows a few fields from the form, and put two buttons in the
footer of that form, one lableled "Add New Record", the other "View
selected record". Both open the same form, but in the first case it
tells the form to open in data-entry mode, in the other it opens the
form in read-only.

Form is set to hide the navigation buttons so the only way to get to
a different record is close the form and reopen.

This allows a user to quickly scan the important details, and drill
down when more information is needed..

Hi Bob,
That all sounds good, however I am new to ACCESS and have no idea
of how to do what you suggest or how that would work. I had a
tuff time just creating the Security_Log form. I'm sorry for
being such a newbe.

Time to get your feet wet. Use the wizard to build a columnar report,
choose a few fields that will let users find things that might pique
their interest.

Once you get something to work with, write back.
