I have a Date/Time field that has started showing number signs instead of the
date and time on the form. It just started today as before this it was just
fine. I thought that the field on the form needed to be bigger (like it does
in Excel) but that didn't work. No designs have been made to the database
today. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi,

What is the format of the field? You are right, the # signs usually
means it cannot fit. Did you try making the box a lot bigger? Or only a
little? Did some setting change on the computer, such as the date and time
format (Control Panel, Regional and Language Options)? Was some program
installed today? Or yesterday?

It is a general date format. No computer settings changed and it appears
this way now on all computers that use the database, not just one. No new
programs were installed. If I expand it out w-a-a-y far, then it will show
all of the information. But it's weird because it used to just show what fit
inside the box, not everything which is the way I want it.

So let me ask this: this is a date/time field but I just want it to show
the date part of it on the form, yet have the time be included in the table.
Does that make sense? The users don't need to see the time, just the date,
but I run queries based on the time.

Hi,

So is this a case of the time being entered starting yesterday when it
did not used to be? Times do get stored if entered, even if you set the
format to something like Short Date. Which you could do. Or you could set
it to something like mm/dd/yyyy if you want the zeroes to show. If you do
either of those, when you click in the field, the time will show. When you
leave the field for another, only the date will show.

Hope that helps,

Hi,

One more thing. Access 2007 does have an option for the current
database: Check for Truncated Number Fields. When checked it shows the #s if
there is more than will fit in the text box. When not checked, it just shows
as much as possible. I am not sure if earlier versions have that setting.
You did not say what version of Access everyone uses. So someone else may
have changed that setting, which is a database-specific setting.
