Forgotten Realms games won't load

I've been using XP for less than a month. I installed
Pool of Radiance on my system about 2 weeks ago, but the
last few days, it wouldn't play long without either
freezing or quitting to my desktop. I was advised to
uninstall & reinstall it. Now it won't load, nor will
any other Forgotten Realms title I try. I've also tried
other types of games, like Moraff's Maximum Mahjongg with
no sucess. HELP!!!
