forgot my pwd; can I recover/re-install ?

Hi:

I have forgotten my windows 2000 Professional password; I
believe it is hard to recover it. So I have decided to do
a clean install of XP on it.

But I don't know how. Just put in the XP CD and rebooted
but nothing seems to happen. Should I be pushing some
sort of intrrupt key ?

Does you PC support booting from CD's would be the first obvious question?
Followed by that would be, do you have the Boot order in the BIOS setup
correctly, i.e to Boot from CD before the Local Hard Disk.
