Force XP to not look for a network

Hi,

I use DSL for my internet connection but I have to manually connect. It is
not connected at start up. My computer always looks for a network and this
takes time because it never finds it, obviously. Is there a way to force XP
Home Edition to startup without looking for a network? I had my connection on
all the time but then I unbridged it. I do not want to re-bridge it.

Thanks.

Is there a way to do it without getting a router? I really only want my
computer to realize that there isn't a network connected to it at startup so
it can boot faster. Right now it takes about 1 minute before I get access to
my computer after it goes to WIndows because it keeps looking for a network
before it realizes that I am not connected. I want to force it to either not
look for a network or to just accept that there isn't a network connection.
But of course, once I connect, I want it to work.
