force Excel to open in Internet Explorer

I am charged with posting notices to the company intranet site. I use
frontpage to create these notices and will occassionally link to a file that
sits on the network drive. I am attempting to force the excel file to open
within an IE browser. This appears to be the exact opposite issue that every
other person is trying to accomplish. Any help would be greatly appreciated
 
maybe save the Excel file as xml or html when you update it. I don't think
you need Excel to read it any longer, just to write to it.
