Force Access import wizard to text only format

The import or link wizard has a data type selection check box that is dimmed.
This should be activated during a data link with excel. This is to force
Access to accept the data type of a field as text, if some of the data
contained in the column is numeric. The wizard dos not take the field as text
even if the first few rows of data are text.

What version of Access? And do you have all of the Service Packs installed?

I believe this was fixed.

The version is 2003 MS Excel and Access.

Wish Microsoft had done something about this, it sure will help me a great
deal with what I am trying to do.

< g > It did get fixed for importing text files, that is most likely what
you were thinking....

I know that MS is fully aware of this limitation and has listened to many of
us who've requested changes... so, stay tuned, ya just never know what might
happen in the future.
