"For testing purpose only" for a final version ? How can I be sure I am not using a beta version?

Hi,

this morning I had a message at the bottom right of my Windows XP SP2
that was indicating "'For Testing Purposes Only' "

I am quite surprised as I think I have a final version of Windows (It
is a master issued by my company).

It is quite strange enough as I have resolved the problem like if I was
using a beta version (I removed two registry keys :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\CA\Certificates\FEE449EE0E3965A5246F000E87FDE2A065FD89D4]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\ROOT\Certificates\2BD63D28D7BCD0E251195AEB519243C13142EBC3]
)

I have installed this Windows 10 months ago.

How can I know if the version that I am using is a final version ? And
why did I get this message ?

Thank you

Pascal;
Have you or anyone installed Service Pack 3 Beta for Windows XP?

Right click My Computer and click Properties.
The 4th line under "System" will show the Service Pack Installed.

Also check winver:
Start/Run
Type "winver" ENTER
What is the 2nd line, Version, Build etc?

Hi,

thank you for your answer.

I have never installed the SP3 Beta for XP.

The second line is 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254 : Service Pack 2

After removing the certificates through registry the problem was
solved.

Does it mean that the Microsoft Root test certificates are available
only on Beta Windows ?

I would like to be sure if I am using a beta (or MSDN for example)
version of XP or not as I will alert the deployment service about that
issue if needed.

Thank you
