Footnotes in PowerPoint?

Our team was asked to develop a powerpoint presentation with accompanying speaking points. No problem, until we tried to cite our sources in the notes section of the slide....We couldn't figure out how to create footnotes (to cite studies and authors). We then cut an paste the text in from Word. That worked ok except that the footnotes started over again at 1 on each notes page (the numbering was continuous in Word). Any ideas as to how to make continuous footnote numbering in PowerPoint?

One way is to select the text and go to Format > Bullets and Numbering >
Numbered and change the starting number. You would need to do that for each
Notes page.

Hello Frustrated,

PowerPoint notes aren't a full featured word processor.
When I highlighted and copied text from my word document,
it included the footnote along with the text but it
changes all the numbers to one. I believe the footnote
gets copied over, but the numbering system is converted to
text. I could then change the numbers to match the
footnotes.

Hello,

PowerPoint does not have the ability to do automatic book note formatting
and numbering (a feature more appropriate for a word processor). You can
certainly manually create footnote text but each would have to formatting
manually (like adding footnotes to a document using a typewriter, not a
word processor) while using copy/paste to duplicate formatting from one
page to the next.

If it is important to you (or anyone else reading this message) that
PowerPoint provide support for generating footnotes, bibliography, etc.
(without having to resort to VBA or add-in), please send your feedback to
