How many fonts can be installed with xp? I know 1000 is
the limit for 95,98 and me
 
1000 isn't the limit for 9x. Though many users hit the limit at about that figure but it's based on storing the paths to the font files. Shorter path = more fonts.

There is no limit in XP. But they take memory and you may run out of memory.

The limit in 95, 98, and Me was not precisely 1000. It depended
on the length of their names. It usually ended up being somewhat
fewer than 1000.

XP has no practical limit.

No, in Windows XP the number of fonts you have installed has no
effect on performance.
