fonts not displaying

I used Front Page to build a basic site. I used a font I like -- Jenkins 2.0
(I know it's not the most ubiquitous font, but I'm mostly putting up the site
for myself and my PC has the font). When I accessed the site from my laptop,
I was surprised to
find that the font defaulted to Times New Roman. I checked the fonts on
Front Page on that machine and it doesn't have Jenkins 2.0. It struck me as
odd because the computers have the same general setup -- XP Pro SP2, updated
office, etc.

So, my question:

Why do I not have that font on the laptop (laptop software)?
- Might I have gotten that font on the PC from some other program and Front
Page just "accessed" it?
- Might it be that the computer itself can't handle that font (even though
it has the same O/S, etc.?

Finally, is there a way I can "force" the font to display on computers that
don't have that font?

Thanks...

Mike,

Even if Windows comes with some fonts and Office intall some fonts with you,
there are still chances that your PC has the font intalled while your laptop
does not. For example, if you install some font or some program solely on
your PC but not your laptop, this happens.

A way to get rid the problem is to install the font on your laptop as well.
On your PC, go to Control Panel and double-click Fonts. Then in the sea of
icons, search for a file named 'Jenkins 2.0' (or anything similar) and copy
it to a floppy disk or otherwise.

Then insert the floppy disk into your laptop. On your laptop go to Control
Panel -> Fonts as well. From the File menu, click Install new font. In the
Add Fonts dialog box, choose A: under Drives (or the letter representing the
floppy drive). The name 'Jenkins 2.0' should show up in the List of fonts
list. Highlight it and click OK. Windows will install the font and you should
be able to see the font in the Font List in FrontPage as well as on your web
page.

For the last question, you cannot get a computer to display a font when the
computer does not have the font file installed. One way to get around this
problem is to store your text as an image. In this case the computer will
treat it as an image file and the font can be displayed properly. Of course
you can upload the font file and let others download and install it, but it
is discouraged to do so because fonts are copyrighted.

That's a very helpful response. I figured that's how the font ended up there
-- I can probably figure out which program loaded it. Checking the install
date on that font file will help.

I had thought of saving the text as an image file. Not sure the best way to
do that, either.

Thanks again for your help.
