Fonts missing in only one program

Hi-- I'm using a program for real estate appraisals called
Appraise It. About 6 months ago, after installing one of
the XP updates, I lost the ability to choose fonts in
Appraise It. The publishers of AI have no idea how to
solve the problem and say the problem is from XP.

When I choose the font dialog box I get an error message
saying there are no fonts installed. It's the only program
that has this problem and I certainly have both TT and
Type 1 fonts installed on my system. I initially
uninstalled a service pack 6 months ago that gave me the
problem and I got my functionality back. Unfortunately, I
need that service pack so I've again had the same problem.
Anyone have any ideas what might be causing the problem?
Thanks so much!

You can set the program to run in Compatibility mode for Windows 2000, which
might resolve the issue. Right click on the shortcut for the application
and choose Properties. In the Properties dialogue, choose the Compatability
tab. Click the button for Run This Program in Compatibility mode for: and
then select Windows 2000. This will make the windows APIs give the same
responses they did in the older version and should make the application work
the way it did before. Unfortunately, there is not an option to run in
compatibility mode for XP initial release.

Long shot, because I'm not familiar with that program but....

Try to print something from AI and look at what printer is selected in
the print dialog box. I'm betting no printer is selected.
