Fonts in Win 2 k compared to Fedora

I have installed Fedora Core 2 on a separate partition on
my computer.

The fonts and colours are much more vivid.

What is the reason for the difference?

Because it's another operating system, working with diffenrent code,
other dirvers, other implementation of the fonts, other programms to
show fonts, other engines to render the display, and so on ;)
