Font ultra sharpness

Since a short while, XP (and Vista) use a font that is very unsharp to my
eyes. Before, everything was ultra-sharp, the fonts were pure black on white,
now the fonts are softened. Sorry to be crude, but I hate that. I understood
that we can change the "Effects" by changing the way the edges are smoothed
in 'Clear Type' or 'Standard'. When it is set to 'Clear Type', the fonts are
very unsharp, and when it is set to 'Standard', the fonts are perfect, but I
see that many programs, including this forum, do not check my setting, and
use the 'Clear Type'. Please, what can I do so that ALL fonts are pure black
on white??
Many thanks in advance especially to YOU who can tell me what to do because
my eyes are being destroyed.... No, I do not exaggerate, sorry.

Best regards,
Richard

"Clear type" doesnt give the pc user those unwanted settings, try setting
clear
type to the on-line utility...

Can you be more specific, please? Is there another place where I can check or
uncheck the "clear type" function? For example, where is it for the Internet
Explorer utility?
