font size

I am very new to web design. I was wondering why I have to use smaller and
smaller font (I am now using 8pt font) in century gothic to get the type to
be normal size. Even now, it seems too big. When I go down to 7 or 6 point
font it is a lot smaller so I think I am doing something wrong. any thoughts?

First of all, you are taking a chance by using a font like Century Gothic.
If the viewer does not have this font on his or her computer, then the
browser will substitute another font for it, and the results will be
unpredictable. Best to stick with Verdana or Arial for the web-viewed pages
and the same fonts or Times New Roman for the print pages.

Check the font size setting in Internet Explorer:
In IE, View->Text Size
This should be set to normal.

In IE6, it's "medium" not "normal."

it was set to largest. I changed it and seemed to do the trick. Thanks! to
both you and Wally S - much appreciated!
