Suddenly, when i compose mail it has reverted to Arial size 12; when i change
it to say,36, it has a size 36 cursor but immediately I type it reverts to 12
again. Have i got a default that is overriding my other settings??

It could be you are using stationery and the stationery may override your
font settings. Try composing via Message | New Message Using | No
stationery and then see if you can change the font size.

Thanks, but it didn't make any difference.

There is a setting for fonts when composing in plain text,
but that is not your issue.

I seldom write with HTML, but when I do, I have noticed some unwanted
font changes while editing. As a workaround, finish composing the email,
then select all the text and apply the font selection you want.

Try going to View | Source Edit and after that is enabled check the HTML
source pane and see if the the HEAD or BODY there are fonts being dictated.
If so, you can remove those specifications.

Otherwise, if you type and then highlight the text and change the font size
then, does it stick?

Thanks Gary, but it didn't work. I seem to have set a default somewhere that
is overriding the text in the body—I've tried doing what Steve said and that
didn't work either. I'll try restoring the system to an earlier date...

Hi

i have the same problem, im using HTML within Windows mail and i can not
change the font or size when composing a email. Even when i change the font
within options it stilll reverts back the the default font and size.... Same
problem as you!! even when i type the email and then high light it will not
let me change the font or size. i can not work out how this has happened as i
have not changed any settings on my computer... this problem has only
happened in the last 2 days. maybe a update from MS???? or a corruption
within Windows mail???

something like this:
The host 'carly' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the
server name correctly.
Subject 'HI', Account: 'POP3', Server: 'carly', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D
always shows up and wont let me send or recieve mail. im connected to the
internet and i dont know what to do. help please!

"carly" is not a correct name for a mail server. You will have to obtain
the correct mail server name from your mail provider. Who is your
mail provider? They will have a web page with that setup information.
We can help you find it.
