Folders will not expand with new email arrival

I have several differnt folders in outlook that I use, with rules, to
organize my email. I recently upgraded from Office 2000 to Office XP. It used
to be that when I got a new email, the folder where that email went to would
expand if it was unexpanded and it would be quite visible where the new email
is, and with XP, the folder will not expand when a new email arrives in it.
Is there some way to fix it where as a new email arrives in a folder that

I went and downloaded the latest updates for Office XP and that
seemed to have fixed the problem. thanks

:) One fixed it and the next broke it but I couldn't remember if a later one
fixed it again - it looks like it does.
