folder task sidebar on desktop

A folder task sidebar has taken over the left side of my
desktop. There is no common way of removing it. No "x"
and right clicking does not work. It pushed some of my
icons off the screen, and they are gone. Also I can no
longer right click anywhere on the desktop. When I do,
everything except the background picture disappears off
the screen and the only thing I can do then is Ctrl Alt
Del and bring up the taskmanager and restart. I had used
system restore to go back to a time when this sidebar was
not there, but it seemed that anything done with the
display, would bring it back. The icons that are left on
the desktop are usable with left click, but not right
click, as already stated. Has anyone ever had this
problem. I hope someone has a solution. Thank you

I have been "fighting" that PROBLEM for a couple of years now, IT IS
**FINALLY** FIXED! THANKS! heheh, literally, when I came across
"elsie"'s RFC on this problem, I almost thought it was an old one *I*
had posted somewhere. hehe, Im no newbie, and/but this task PAIN thing
had me. . untill now! THANK YOU! (seem overthankful?, NO. I dispised
this thing), I have litterally REINSTALLED (in the beginning) "over the
top" in order to get ride of that task-PAIN, "restoring" to a 'previous'
version, SOMETIMES worked, but, come'on, THAT gets a lil' irritating as
well! THANK YOU. I have made duplicates of your "FIX" to offer to
Anyone that i come across with this "problem", your due the credit!!
Thank You. Your Script worked wondwerfully, took maybe 5 seconds to
install, and run, then just rebooted/logged-off, loged back in.. and
BEST yet, I can STILL use the Active Desktop. . IF I ever get get over
the 'flashbacks" of this TASKPAIN problem popping up.. haha okok,
this is just SUCH a load off. My desktop is my JOB, this has truly
helped me, in MANY ways. . Thanks Again! ! (i doubt, but) If there is
anything you can use from me, just drop me an email.
