Folder problems

every time i try to open a file folder, briefcase and
anything under My Computer the desktop just goes blank
then returns. I cant open any of my files ...Help

I'm getting something similar, but not as bad yet... When
I go to open a folder, I get an error message and the
option to send an error report. The screen goes blank,
returns, and then I can open the folder. But, if I try to
open a second folder, the same thing happens! So I can't
have 2 folders open at the same time. Also, all the icons
in the tray at the bottom left disappear. I need help
too...

I have a similar problem: every time I open a folder it automatically comes
up as "not responding" and I end up having to use the task manager to end the
process. What have I done to my computer!! Help!!
