Folder Problem With Norton Anti Virus 2007

I have a rather odd problem when scanning files and folders with NAV 2007.
The easiest way to explain it is by this using example:

Let's say I have a folder named "Folder A" which contains "File A" and
"Folder B" which contains "File B"

If I select "File A" and then run an anti virus scan, the file will be
scanned, but the number of items scanned will be shown as zero instead of 1.

If I select "File B" and then run an anti virus scan, the file will be
scanned and number of items will be correctly shown as 1.

If I then move "File A" into "Folder B" and then scan the file, the tally
will be correctly shown as 1.

If, conversely, I were to move "File B" into "Folder A" and then scan the
file, the tally will be zero.

Apparently there is some anomally with "Folder A", but I have been unable to
determine what it is. When I compare folder properties and options between
the 2 folders they are the same.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem is? Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you.

Have you run Live Update or do you have automatic updates enabled ? I used
to have Norton AV but now I am using AVG Free. You seem to have found a bug
in Norton AV; have you checked their help sites?

Look under 'Settings', 'Additional Options, there you will see 'Virus and
Spyware protection options', select this by double clicking, in a few
seconds a window should open and on the left hand side you should see a list
of 'Advanced Options', next select 'Scan Exclusions', finally you should
see a list of Disks, Folders and Files or file extensions to excluded from
scanning. Is the folder you mentioned in this list?

Have you contacted Symantec Tech support.

IMO, you are better off without NAV or NIS. There are better, less resource
heavy, less problematic, and in same cases, no cost, alternatives.

your opinion was not asked for, the person was asking for help.

the file/folder may be of a type that is not scanned by norton.
you need to check the program options for file/folder names/types that are not checked.
