folder options

I want the details view on all folders with attributes and comments added and
fairly wide fields for all columns (I have a wide monitor). I know how to do
this for a specific folder, but I want it to be computer wide (user wide
would be ok).

When I go to control panel, folder options, view tab, the 'apply to all
folders' button is always greyed out. I've tried a few experiments, but no
joy. Does anyone know how to establish my custom details view for all folder
displays?

I'm running XP 5.1 with latest SP's.

Instead of launching the Folder Options applet through Control Panel, open a
folder and click on the Tools menu on the toolbar at the top of the window.
Select Folder Options from the menu. The Apply to All Folders button should
now be available. Configure your view settings and hit the button.

Good luck
