Folder options messed up

I zigged when I should have zagged - or left well enough alone! - and now
when I left click on a drive or file folder to open it I get a message about
installing a modem.

When I go into folder options, file types, and open the driver or file
folder by clicking on advanced I can't edit the command because it isn't
highlighted and clicking on it won't highlight it. For example under Drive 2
actions show up one is "find" and the other is "open" - when I highlight open
the "edit" or "remove" options aren't available.

Please someone help me out here! How can I fix this?

werekenn - well I would be if I could make this problem go away.

OK - I'm replying to my own message- but after I posted this I then started
reading older posts and found a fix.

Now I have something else that I want to fix - now when I left/single click
on my drive or folder it opens up properly but on the left a panel called
"folders" open and I don't want that. How do I prevent this from happening?
All I want to see is the file or drive I've just opened and its subfiles.

This might disable it more places than you want:
