Hi!

My anti virus program shows there have been multiple trojans in C:\SYSTEM
VOLUME INFORMATION\_RESTORE etc folder... now, however... when I click on to
the C:, I cannot find a folder called SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION. I try the
search and nothing comes up. But when I try to make a new folder by that same
name, it says the folder already exists and I should pick another name.
Now... how do I find that SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION? Is it some really vital
thing? Coz my antivirus doesn't seem to be able to remove the trojan exe and
I'd like to do it manually, then... any help? Thanks.

When in Windows Explorer select Tools>Folder Options>View>Advanced
Settings Box Click on Show hidden files and
folders and uncheck Hide protected operating system files. Click
Apply, Ok.

To find System Volume Information on C: you must go to toolbar, click on
Tools then folder options. Scroll down till you find "hide protected
operating system files" and uncheck the tick box. You will be prompted with
a warning but accept. Then you will see the folder that you are looking for
in the Explorer tree. BE VERY CAREFULL WITH WHAT YOU DO INSIDE THESE
FOLDERS!!! I am not an expert to guide you with any changes here.

You will also discover that you are denied access to this volume even tho you
are administrator! If you have trojans in here you may need some expert help.

Why, it's trivially simple. As an admin you can give yourself the rights
needed to access that folder. However it is much simpler to just purge
your restore points.

Hi,

It's a registry entry not a folder as you might think. I had the very same
problem with my AV and I have uninstalled ti and switched to another Av
program with no peoblems to date. I don't think it is a trojan at all.

regards
Peter
