new and folder. I did not want it anymore so right clicked and deleted it,
when it went into my norton bin i emptied the bin but its come back, i have
continuously deleted this folder and it keeps coming back.

Has anyone got any ideas how to delete this file for good?

Hi

Try deleting the folder from a command prompt.

Disable norton protected recycle bin. Other tips:

Hi

Go back to the desktop folder at the command prompt and try these commands:

attrib -r -s music <Enter>
del music <Enter>

I have also done that and it is saying that the file is not found but it is
still there on the desktop

You have essentially two Desktop points - Your User Profile Desktop
and a second, Global one for "All User". Using Explorer, with View
options for everything ( Hidden, System & Protected) navigate to the
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop and see if your icon is
present there. If so, Right Click it and from the Context menu take the
Delete option.

Thank you for your reply, i did as you said and it was not there, hardly any
files on my desktop were there, i created a new folder and moved the music
folder into that one and deleted but as soon as i delete the recycle bin and
purge work it comes straight back, it is driving me crazy now

Perhaps you have inadvertently assigned your My Music to the
desktop. Using Tweak-UI, check the My Computer, Special
Folders category and check the path for My Music. Until you
redirect it, removal of the defined folder will re-appear.

Each user has predefined drive locations for specific folders, My
Documents, My Pictures, My Music.... Normally, these reside in
the C:\Documents & Settings\'YourLoginName' path. You can
do a "Redirect" of those folders to other locations or drives on
your PC.
Tweak-UI for Windows XP Powertoy, is an add-on Microsoft
tool that helps users to change things about XP that would normally
take a edit of the Registry.
Tweak-UI for XP (SP1+) is available at:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
( Located on the Right Side panel of the website)
Once you install and open Tweak-UI you'll see the category My
Computer, clicking the + next to the category will expand the view
and show you the Special Folders sub-option.

Just log in to the Administrator account (Safe Mode if Home Edition).
Delete the Music folder from your profile's Desktop folder and then
log back into your Day-to-Day account and check if it's removed.

Hello again, i think that i have found the problem, i assigned all my music
through media player to save to a specific folder and it was the folder which
was on my desktop. I have now reassigned the folder save option to another
folder, and have deleted the music one. At the moment it seems to be ok,
thank you so much for all your help and sorry to have been a nuisance.
