Folder cannot be shared

I have two machines on a home LAN: one wired and one wireless. Both are
Vista Ultimate. They have the same workgroup name.

From my wireless machine, I can access folders and files from the wired
machine, copy them to the wireless machine, etc.

When I go to share a folder from the wireless machine, it goes for a few
minutes and then says: your folder cannot be shared ... no reason is given.
I've done everything I can think of and looked across the Internet but can't
get it to work.

From the wired machine, when I select view computers, I can see the wireless
machine but can't access its folders or files.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Look down a few threads to Vista vs XP. I am seeeing the exact same thing as
you are. Hopefully someone wil chime in with a simple solution. Only I can't
see anything from the Vista machine. The XP machines like you can see the
Vista machine, but not the other way. and neither can share anything with
each other.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and help. I found the problem. I
needed to enable file sharing in the network properties: Network and Sharing
Center/Status/Properties (check File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft
Networks).

I'm happy it now works but it really seems like there could be an easier way
to set this up. I've spent too many hours reading through all the detailed
configuration documents and so on and then googling to a tech net website:

I hope this info might help some others.
