Folder Access rights

I have a folder that I copied from another drive. It keeps saying it is
read only. I tried changing it and even with my administrator account
it initially looks as if it is being changed, but then if I looked at
the properties again, it says it is still read only. How to I get rid
of the read only attribute on this folder and the items in the folder?

The folder isn't read only, that box is only there to be used to set or
UNset read-only on the files contained IN the folder. It indicates
nothing in the "grayed" state, only if you toggle it and then apply, and
then it ONLY applies to the files, NOT the folders.

Ok; even so the files still stay at read only no matter how I try to
change them.

XP does not like to change folder attributes. But one may try these
apps.:

GENERAL FILE UTILITIES
Stubborn File Deleters

That would be odd, unless the files are on a CD or DVD. HOW are you
determining the files are read only? R-click the file itself and then
select Properties, is the Read-only box checked? No? Then the file is
not read only. Set the Folder view to Details, R-click the column
header, and click on Attributes to show that column of info. Is there an
"R"? There will be if it is read-only.
