I have a Sony stick reader/floppy drive that I have had for the past 4
years (MSFD-20U). I recently purchased a new computer with XP and want
to use the reader. Problem is, Windows keeps automatically installing
its own floppy driver and wont let me use the CD from Sony that has the
memory stick driver on it. When I try to upgrade the driver, I get told
that Windows cant find a better driver than the one it already
installed. So I can use the floppy but I cant use the memory card
reader. I even tried pointing the driver installer to the CD drive to
make sure Windows is finding it, but I still get the same message. And
I tried uninstalling all the floppy drivers and starting from scratch
but as soon as Windows sees the hardware, it immediately installs the
MS drivers and gives me NO chance to install the one from the CD. How
can I get Windows to install the driver from the CD?

Have you tried:
Shutdown the computer
Disconnect floppy drive from the motherboard
Install the software from the CD
Shut down the computer
Reconnect the floppy drive
Boot up

Yes....But the files on the CD dont seem to have any kind of installer.
They are sys and dll files. When I click on any of them, I just get
messages that tell me either Windows has no program that can open the
files or that the files are not applications and should not be altered.
So I have no way of installing them myself.
