is it a good idea to get a pc without a 3.5" floppydrive and do u really use one enough to have one

For an opposing opinion.
I've noticed more and more pc makers are opting to not
install a floppy drive, I think this is a mistake.
I have found that simple little floppy drive to be so
useful, I can't even begin to imagine how frustrating it
would be without it.
Sometimes the CD just disappears, no cd/no floppy no way
to get simple software/utilties in to the pc.
So you say, with the size of most current programs, they
just won't fit on a floppy, yep I agree, they won't
ZIP em..
I opt to keep the floppy, even I only use it a few times
a year, it's worth the price.

Nowadays you don't really need one any more. Software comes on CDs (or
DVDs), or you download it from the 'net. You can burn files on to CDs
or DVDs, or write them onto a USB Key drive, or a CF card, which have
*much* more space than a floppy anyway.

Most people use a floppy drive very seldom these days, if at all.
On the other hand, a floppy drive costs only $10 or $15.
Personally for so little money, I would get one just to have it
if I ever needed it (for example it's hard to flash the BIOS
without one).

Actually, if a system these days is built sans a floppy drive, there (should be/is) an executable BIOS flash that is used from within Windows. One just runs it from Windows, and the system reboots. I know ABIT, ASUS, and Intel all have them with their MOBOs.
