Hello,

On a computer that I just installed WinXP Pro on, it is annoyingly
attempting to access the floppy drive at random intervals.

Tried all the givens, but they came up empty.

- Its not from Avast! Antivirus
- No *.lnk's are pointing to shorcuts on A:
- No recent documents or history on A: (XP TweakUI clears them anyway)
- No MRU's for A:
- No Scheduled Tasks are assigned (disabled anyway)
- System Restore isn't monitoring A: (disabled anyway)

Its not a hardware/BIOS issue. That can be ruled out.

I'm currently trying to catch it in the act by keeping a disk in the drive
and monitoring activity with filemon (file monitor).

It doesn't seem to occur doing a logged in session though. I may have to
try running filemon as a service using srvany.

Anyone know off the top of their head of a specific XP issue with these
random seeks?

Thanks.

FWIW, it has stopped. Maybe just having a disk in allowed whatever it was
to flush through.
