Floppy Drive A

This is a rather silly question, but in "Device Manager" I have a floppy
drive listed, "This Device Is Working Properly", yet I there is no floppy
drive in the system !! Does this indicate the previous owner, at some
point, used an external floppy drive and it's still listed in
"Device Manager" or what's your thoughts ?? TIA

Could just be that the motherboard supports a floppy drive through the
onboard controller - therefore XP has loaded the driver and all is Ok at
that point.

Can you go into the BIOS and set the floppy drive as Not Installed ?
