floppy disk file will not open - style invalid

Trying to open a file from a floppy disk which I just keep getting a message
advising style invalid. File has been opened previously on this computer
(windows xp) but think I must've done something.

Never ever read from, write to, or print from floppy with Word. These are
the most certain methods of ensuring document corruption.

Copy to the hard disc and work on the document from there.
