floppy disk error

Whenever I open Microsoft Word or Publisher my floppy drive tries to read a disk even though no disk is installed. My computer is brand new. I have not saved anything on a disk yet or even tried. Why is it doing this. I've restarted my computer, uninstalled and reinstalled Office. Help!
 
Som applications insist on defaulting back to the drive last used. Open
Word, open a file from (or save a file to) a location on your hard disk.
