floppy disc drive

up until recently my FD drive was working perfectly. It
has suddenly started giving error message A:\ is not
accessible. The request could not be performed because
of an I/O device error.

I have tried numerous fixes including re-installing but
nothing works

can any one offer help for this problem

Could be a loose cable, open up pc and check cable.
