Floppy dirve is there but windows cannot see it

I reinstalled xp on my system due to hardware problems
now my computer regonises that I have my floppy drive
but I cannot see it in my computer or anywhere else for
that matter. Although when I go in to device manager it
tels me the device is working properly. So why cant I
see it or obtain any data from it? Please help..

It shows up in Device Manager without any yellow marks next to it right?
Uninstall it from Device Manager, make sure the
Floppy drive controller is enabled in the Bios and let WinXP reinstall
it.
