Floppy A: no longer listed in Explorer

I went to format a floppy yesterday in Windows and the A: drive isn't
listed. I can reboot and boot with a floppy. My other OS's can see it.

Does anyone have some suggestions I might try to resolve this? Deleting
the Upper and Lower filters isn't an option unless I can delete the
specific key causing the issue. Removing them all plays havoc on this
workstation.

Thanks,

Terry R.

The drive letter might just be hidden. Any chance that you played with
TweakUI and accidentally hid the drive? Can you access the drive or
format floppies from the command prompt?

Hi John,

I haven't made any changes, but checked TweakUI just in case and A: was
checked. It's also available to map a network drive.

The error I get at a command prompt is "The system cannot find the drive
specified".

This has me stumped.

Maybe the drive has been disabled in the BIOS... or it may have died.

No, like I stated above, I can reboot and boot off of it, the other OS's
see it, XP doesn't recognize it.

What does the Device Manager say?

It lists both the floppy controller and the drive. That's what's making
me crazy!

John,

I removed the floppy controller & drive from Dev Mgr and re-scanned.
After that the floppy now appears in Explorer.

Sometimes I need to talk things through to realize a fix. Thanks for
doing that.
