Floating text

ToddK

I have a web site with shared borders on the top, bottom and left of each
page. When resizing the web browser, the text does not move at all in the
shared borders. However, the text and images in the body of the page with
float "slightly" (1/4") when resizing the browser. This causes the images
or text to be off-center in certain resolutions.

I have everything (images, text, buttons) stored in tables, alignment set to
"left" in table and cell properties. "No word wrap" is also selected. When
previewing my pages in Frontpage Explorer, no floating or drifting occurs
when resizing. This only happens after I publish it and view it on the web.

I've tried just about every table, cell, and page setting I can think of,
but this still happens. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Todd K

You need to set your table to fixed pixel width.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I DO have a set pixel width (not
percentage). It still drifts.

You have the wrong content in each of your borders
Remove the left shared border and edit the top shared border

Also Set your table and cell alignments

I don't understand. What is the "wrong content?" Also, why do I have to
delete the left shared border? Shouldn't I be able to stop the drifting
without deleting any shared borders?

My table and cell alignments have been set to every possible setting and the
drifting still occurs.

Thanks,
ToddK

Hi Todd,

Shouldn't your main table alignment be set to center? You can have
your text left-aligned even if the table and cells are centered.

When I look at your shared border pages I see duplication
Both your top and left shared borders need to have the shared borders set to none
Look at
http://www.creditmgt.com/_borders/left.htm
Now I see your CMS logo and dhtml nav bar in the left shared border (plus your copyright)
- presume that they should just be in the top shared border and bottom shared border respectively

And in your top shared border I see duplicate content at
http://www.creditmgt.com/_borders/top.htm

In both of the above you have
<meta name="Microsoft Border" content="tlb, default">
Instead of
<meta name="Microsoft Border" content="none">

To edit your shared borders in the _hidden _borders folder set Tools Web Settings Advanced - show hidden folders

Don't use the space bar for design layout "positioning"
- set your cell alignments
- or use a transparent gif to make a table cell a fixed size

The combination of incorrectly applied shared borders and all the space bar stuff in them, forces the "positioning" in your tables
Plus your main tables are left aligned instead of center aligned
<div align="left"><table border="0" width="755" height="102">
and
<div align="left"><table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="519">

PS - Also remove all spaces from File name - illegal html that breaks links
