Floating cell

Is it possible to have a cell, say A1, always visible on my screen,
floating, even if I have scrolled to say Z1000 ?

place your cursor just below and just to the right of what you want to
"freeze".
window>freeze panes
 
If you have Excel 2002 or later version, you can keep track of cells by
using the Watch window --

Choose Tools>Formula Auditing>Show Watch Window
Click the Add Watch button
Select the cell(s) you want to watch
