i have seen this too what is this ?
I've always had an additional vertical taskbar on the left edge of the
screen as well. It doesn't stay there however, as on occasion I boot up to
desktop (from restart OR full-off), and the taskbar is gone. The folder its
contents are in doesn't go away - so this is fairly easy to go back and
create a New toolbar based on it. It's a real pain however to have to do it
several times in a day depending on how often one reboots; especially since
I think I shouldn't have to be reestablishing it at ALL...
There have been in the past week occurrances of the desktop refreshing
itself while viewing a window's contents, as a List, Icons, Thumbnails,
Details, anyway you do it. A pause happens, the desktop behind the window
refreshes completely to make all icons default images, then a second refresh
restores the icons to what they should be. In addition I have been finding
occasional repositioning of My Computer and My Documents icons to the left
side of the screen, instead of the right side I keep them on.
Is this a DirectX bug? Active Desktop?
I suspect this comes from the same flaky neighborhood as the Non-hiding or
Invisible Until Log-off/Log-in Notification Taskbar Icon Bug, but who knows?
Hopefully when I make a new pair of PCs for us - most likely >3GHz with that
tasty Radeon 9800 card with the non-fan heat sink - this problem will go
away... but since others have started popping up with this error I thought I
would jump in.
