"I am pleased to announce the release of FlightGear v0.9.5.

FlightGear is a free, open-source, multi-platform flight simulator.
The source code is licensed under the GPL.

FlightGear is available for free download from:

Precompiled versions of FlightGear v0.9.5 are available (or will
be soon) for most platforms including Windows, Linux, Sgi, Solaris,
and Mac OS X.

Here are a few of the highlights from this release:

- A new system to add realistically scheduled air traffic to the FG world.
- Audio subsystem is now based on OpenAL.
- Support for SDL.
- An XML based gui/widget layout system.
- Many internal improvements, enhancements, and bug fixes.
- Out of the box support for several new joysticks.
- Many new, updated, and improved aircraft.
- Updated airports with windsocks, towers, and rotating beacons.
- Complete rebuild of the world scenery based on SRTM terrain data.
- Accurate radio towers for the USA.

the download of the installation program of 0.9.5 for windows (77MB)
himself doesnt work :-( Downloading of a scenery (120MB!) and several
PDFs for that program worked ok.

thanks, but I found and downloaded at least from:

ftp://ftp.de.flightgear.org/pub/fgfs/Win32/fgsetup-0.9.5a.exe

I also downloaded the scenery:

ftp://ftp.flightgear.org/pub/fgfs/Scenery-0.9.5/e010n40.tar.gz
(120MB!!!)

But after setup/installation this program runs not properly under
Windows XP HOME and I deinstalled it.

Wow! The screenshots show my town San Francisco modeled nicely. Just
what Osama needs to fly a jet into the Bank of America building!

I gotta download this and try it out even though I've sworn off any
sort of games as huge time-wasters...

But after setup/installation this program runs not properly under

Windows XP HOME and I deinstalled it.

I had the same experience with prior versions. I'm going to give this one a
try. With XP gaining so many desktops, I hope XP compatibility gets
resolved.

please tell me your experiences with 0.9.5 after installation under
Win XP HOME. AFAIK the 0.9.5 is the actual version and IMO is not very
compatible with this OS. I never getting to start the aircraft nor fly a
normal round.
