Flight Simulator 2004 Installation problem

When attempting to install, installation stops with this error:
Setup failed to extract d:/msgame1.cab
I get the message to reboot my computer and reinstall. I keep getting the same message.
Does anyone know a resolution to this problem??
Thanks!

I am trying to load FS2004 onto my PC which has a brand new copy of xp home
(with SP2), 40 GB hard disk, additional hard disk, 256mb RAM, and I keep
getting the error message Mariah refers to. I've tried every fix mentioned
in the support articles Jimmy refers to without success. I know it's a good
copy of FS because it recently installed on the same PC when it was running
windows 98 (after I had disabled DMA).

Can anyone help, or is it not possible to install FS on a machine with SP2?

Hi David,

The solutions were posted over 2 months ago, and seem to
have worked since she didn't post back for more assistance.

We have a Sims MVP who posts here, perhaps if you start
your own post about the issue, Katy will respond to you. :)

Also: There's a comprehensive FAQ for FS 2004 posted at.

Hi Jimmy

Thanks for the prompt reply, but the FAQ site is not comprehensive enough so
I am starting a new thread as you suggest.

hey
i have a dell desktop with windows XP. I recently had a major virus that forced me to re-install my XP. Initially, there was a problem with the sound drivers but now after re-installing them again, they work.
When i install my fs 9 , during disc 2 an error comes while installing the file "c1prec2.wav" (43% of express install)
the error says that the file cant be written, please check if the disc space is full or if the file is being used by another application. The disc space is more than enough and no other application is using the file.
I have already tried installing the game with 2 different fs9 discs, the same erroe comes always, so it means that its a problem with the computer. Anyone can give me a hand?
cheers!
