I have a 15'' tft monitor, and after a short while it starts to flicker and
you sort of get a double picture flickering all over but just prior to that
the mouse cursor slows down and goes all jerky. As soon as I turn it off
then straight back on again its fine. Could it be the graphic card on its
way out or the monitor thats duff.
Cheers in advance to anybody that could help.

Hi Clive

R/Click My Computer/properties/Hardware/Device Manager/then expand Display
adapters, double click on your graphics card /General Tab/ where it says
Device usage, scroll down and disable your device, leave it disabled for "As
you stated" a short while. And if it doesn't flicker no more then it's
probably the Graphics Card at fault.
I would try re-seating it and check any cables though before you go and
purchase a new one.

Hi Clive,

I agree with p.mc, it is most likely related to the display adapter. In
addition to the suggestions p.mc has provided, I suggest you also use the
following steps:
Step 1:
===========
Check the following article to change the monitor refresh frequency

To change the refresh frequency for your monitor
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-
us/display_change_refresh_frequency.mspx

Step 2:
===========
1. Right click My Computer->Properties->Advanced tab
2. Performance->Settings->Choose "Let Windows choose what's best for my
computer"

Step 3:
========

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Display.

2. On the Settings tab, click Advanced, and then click the Troubleshoot tab.

3. Move the Hardware Acceleration slider to None, and then click to clear
the Enable Write Combining check box.

Step 4
======
1. Start->Run->Input "dxdiag"
2. Switch to Display tab, you will see three buttons. Click the buttons to
disable all.
3. Restart the machine.

Step 5:
===========
If possible, you can use another monitor to test this issue so you can
narrow down this issue is related to the monitor, the display card or the
system.

HTH!
