Getting the following error message when opening outlook 2003 & when
receiving emails: The extension configuration file "C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Addins\fldpub.ecf" could not be installed.
There is an error in the stntax or format of the file.
Using XP Pro all updates done & Office 2003 Pro again all updates done.
Email is functioning.
Any help would be appreciated

please check your Addins and deactivate them!

I have same problem but don't know what you mean by "deactivate them"
found the file in two locations: Office2000\addins, and in a folde
cdburning\pfiles\msoffice\addins

I am having the same problem but with a different file
"C:\windows\addins\fxsext.ecf" I also dont know how to correct this, Andreas
is not specific enough to help much.

Here's what I found. We're currently upgrading all of our systems t
one particular model for hardware consistency within the office, an
they come with either Office Basic Edition or Office Small Business.
Neither include Access or Power Point, so we install them with
corporate licensed copy of Office Pro 2000. When installing,
accidentally installed Outlook 2000 alongside Outlook 2003. Thi
caused the error you all have talked about here. After removin
Outlook 2000, I ran a "detect and repair" on Outlook 2003 which fixe
my issue
