Hello, i have a problem.

I dont know what could have caused this, but my disk drive has stoppe
working. It simply wont open, no life in it at all.

Heres a bit of background that may help to solve this.

First of all i had left my system on overnight to leave Edonke
running, i had reset it just before i left it, and forgot to enable m
firewall{it no longer comes on at startup no matter what i do, i hav
to physically click on it when winxp starts up, really annoying, it
Sygate, any ideas, reinstalling helps but only for a day or two}.

Anyway i then got up this morning, closed down Edonkey, opened ner
selected a few files which i had to burn, put in a blank disk {which i
not entirely sure was blank, didnt have any burn marks on it} the
clicked on burn. The computer did the usual searched for the disk ,th
small cd icon appeared next to the mouse pointer, then nothing..... an
its still there now, flashing away.

I tried ejecting the drive, and at no point will it respond, it simpl
doesnt work now..

So I then closed everything down and reset windows, again trying t
open the drive at various points, nothing.

Windows restarted but is taking ages to reboot and load up windows.

Any ideas people???, i really need the use of this drive.

Does this sound like some sort of virus/trojan that has infected m
system because i wasnt firewalled for so long??

Any help, ideas or advice will be greatly apprieciated.

After i post this im goin to run my Fprot AV, i let yous know how i ge
on.

Thanks.

Fprot AV & McAfee security centre running with only AV installed

Typically if your are not firewalled you can expect viruses on your system
within 20-30 minutes. It is probably a shorter period of time since you
were connected to edonkey getting software illegally and then burning it to
CD.
Most CD drives have a small hole where you can put a paper clip in and open
the drive if it can not be opened via software.
