flash drive letter designation

My PC already has drives A,C,D,E,F & G assigned. Just got
a flash drive, and although the machione obviously knows
it's there when I plug it in (I can tell by the sound), it
doesn't appear anywhere. ny ideas on how to assign a drive
letter to the flash drive?

Thanks!

Hi, Diane.

What's a "flash drive"? Is it one of those also known as a pen drive, or
stick drive, or USB drive - like the 128 MB NexDisk I have? Did it come
with software that you need to install?

When you say it doesn't appear "anywhere", do you mean in My Computer?
Device Manager? Have you looked for the drive in Disk Management? (From
the Run prompt, type: diskmgmt.msc) You may need to "initialize" the drive
here, and assign a drive letter. Or reassign the drive letter.

My NexDisk drive letter may be different each time I plug it in, depending
on what my drive/volume configuration is at the time. (Usually F:; today
it's J:.) It's USB 1.1, but it also works on my USB 2.0 card.

Also, if you use TweakUI, you may have told it to show only the drives you
had before.
