fixing characters per line

I need tthe lines of mi text being 68 characters long. How could I do it?

Set the font of all the text to a nonproportional font such as Courier New
or Lucida Console. Then set the margins so exactly 68 characters fit in each
line. The last word of a line will move to the next line if it doesn't fit,
so some/most lines will be shorter than 68 characters, but none will be
longer.
