FixBoot\MBR in Vista

I was attempting to install Ubuntu on a USB thumb drive and it ended up
over writing my Master Boot Record on my Vista hard drive. I know with
XP I was able to boot from the original CD and enter a FixBoot or FixMBR
command and fix the problem but don't seem to have this ability when
using the Vista CD. Can anyone offer advice as to how to fix the Master
Boot Record in Vista?

Hi,

I't somewhat similar. At the first setup page there is an advanced/other
options section. Within it are options to run a startup repair (which should
be sufficient for your needs) or to access a recovery environment (so you
can manually run the fixes yourself).

Thanks Rick, I appreciate your help. I had attempted using the start-up
repair tool earlier and it does not make any changes to correct things
in this case. I also tried going to the recovery environment, opened a
terminal window and the fixboot and\or fixmbr commands were not
recognized. Do you have any other ideas?
