Fix PowerPoint GIFs with VBA shp.Visible Settings

OK. Apparently, this suggestion is going to be posted in the newsgroup. I
went to Microsoft's Web site to report a bug in PowerPoint, and it took me
here. I guess it will use the new "Suggestion for Microsoft" Flag to direct
it to Microsoft. So, here is a brief version of my bug report (reported in
an earlier thread).

When using VBA in PowerPoint and making an object invisible or visible,
there is a bug when there is an animated GIF on the slide. A statement like:

ActivePresentation.Slides(9).Shapes(3).Visible = msoTrue

will not make the shape visible during the slide show when there is an
animated GIF on the slide. At least, it will not work consistently. The
shape will become visible, but not until after the slide show is exited.

Hello David,
Do you have the file on which this can reproduced? I haven't encountered it
before and I haven't been able to reproduce the problem.

Shyam,

Yes, I have the file. You probably haven't been able to reproduce it
because it is inconsistent. For example, I was able to get it to work
properly by adding a shape off the screen. If that shape had been there
already, I never would have seen the problem. Would you like me to send
you the file. If so, where?

Out of curiosity, I just tried the usual MSWish site and it seems not to be
posting here; but if you click the technical support link, it waltzes you off
to one of the web-based NG interfaces. Is that how you got here?

IAC, I'd like to get a look at the file too. steve a with surrounding circle

There. If that doesn't confuse and confound the spamenemy, there's no hope.

Oh, and remind me, which version of PPT are you using for this?

I'll send a file. I was using PowerPoint 2002, but I'm not sure what the
original author was using. Perhaps, this is fixed in 2003. I haven't
tried.

I don't remember exactly how I got here, but I think I clicked on
something from within PowerPoint 2003 (yes, I think I was on PowerPoint
2003 when I wrote the message, but I haven't tried the file in 2003), and
it took me to the Web. From there, I had a lot of trouble finding
anything that suggested that I could post a bug or add a suggestion, but
I did find something. It was another new interface to the newsgroup with
options for posting to various Microsoft newsgroups. It mentioned
something about posting the suggestion, and Microsoft would answer the
suggestions that got the most votes. The new Web interface allows you to
vote as to whether you agree or disagree about a suggestion for
Microsoft, so go to the new Web interface if you want to vote for my
suggestion. Unfortunatley, I don't have a campaign budget, so I doubt
Microsoft will listen.

I'll send a file.

Got it; I'll have a look a bit later. Thanks, David.

Ah, that explains why you were taken to the web interface.
From there, I had a lot of trouble finding

The web interface. Definitely. ;-)
so go to the new Web interface if you want to vote for my
