subject: an error in MSO9.dll...
Having an odd but serious problem Outlook2000 beginning this AM. Just
fixed a problem with Outlook Express 5.5 which has shared the same
winME machine for years. For the last couple weeks OE has occasionally
balked at sending mail. At the same time we noticed OE would not
display the messages in its Sent folder. Usually rebooting would clear
both problems FOR AWHILE.

My fix for OE? After reviewing the ng, it appeared likely the Sent
folder was damaged. I went thru the steps to replace it, tested it and
OE is working (and the contents of new Sent folder are visible). I
used OE to send a message to our other address, the one we pickup with
OE2000. It went out OK. When I went to bring in the msg from oe5.5
with O2K, O2K will not start. Instead, an Outlook messagebox appears:
"Outlook has caused an error in MSO9.dll. Outlook will now close. If
you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer." I
read the OE test msg with webmail, so OE does work. I may have deleted
some auxiliary mail folders, not the main ones, at the same time I
remade OE's Sent folder.

The most recent change to system was installing MapPoint2004 several
days ago. The time stamp on MSO9.dll is 8/03/2000, according to the
Dependency Walker program by Steve P. Miller. All the others it
depends on are time stamped 6/08/2005. And we had a power outage this
AM too. (Brownouts in CA in May?!)

What should I do next? I can still check my email via webmail so it
isn't urgent but it is inconvenient.

Thank you for your help.

No, I'm not sure I have the the applicable service packs so I wanted to
see what else was suggested. Is flat repairing at this point wo the
service pack(s) safe? I guess I could backup everything Depends points
to then run Repair with the Offiz2K Premium CD?

Repairing Office won't do anything for Outlook Express.
