fix damaged krnl file

I need to repair the <windows root>\system\ntos krnl.exe
file. i have it on a cd . whats the best way to get it
installed? i'm at the recovery console. thanks
 
Start/Run/type sfc /scannow (there is a space between the c /
and press Enter. Have your WinXp reinstallation ready to insert
This will activate WinXP to search/scan your system files an
either replace or overwrite corrupted or missing system files.
