Fix Broken Text

The above command features on the Tools menubar, yet
doesn't seem to do anything. I can't find any reference
to it within Help or the Microsoft Knowledge Base. Does
anybody know what this feature is?

Hi Suzanne & Kim,

This Word 2000-related link talks about the "Fix Broken Text" command
on the Tools menu .

http://www.officeupdate.com/downloads/2000/fontrepair.aspx

The command may also be already there (although not necessarily
installed) in Word 2002 where it seems to be accessible via
Tools/Customize/Commands/All Commands/FixBrokenText. (At least this is
the case on a couple of PCs that I checked.)

Regards.

Ed

The relevant KB article that I find is "WD2000: Incorrect Characters Appear
When You Open Document in Earlier Eastern European Version of Word
[KB260162]," which seems to indicate that the usefulness of Fix Broken Text
is limited to these documents.
